Parish Visiting

The initial working party to set up this group comprised: Val Tait, Andy Lewis, Paul Tomkins and Paul Bradley-Lloyd.

The initial concern of the group is with those people who used to attend church events but who no longer do so. Also to consider why people came to church ? their relationship with God ? relstionship in human face to face contact ? why they might stop going to St Nicholas’ Church ?

It seems that once people were unable to get to church independantly then they tended to ‘drop off’.

Recommendations of this group were:

1. Catch the Fallers - fibd out why they no longer attended St Nicholas

2. Establish a ‘Pastoral Visiting System’ where members of PCC, or of the congregation, are responsible for a defined group and/or act as their link with St Nicholas’

3. ‘Open Visiting’ for anyone who requests it. Clergy for first visit. higher profile given - say through Church magazine, notices etc.,

4. Urgent needs include... a Transport Co-ordinator, someone on the door/increased sides persons etc., to greet people (in addition to the clergy) obtaining phone nos, addresses etc of new people and noticing if ‘regulars’ are missing.

Anyone interested in being involved should contact one of the people mentioned above
